Myrmecia founding chambers (Stage 1)
We've got a few Myrmecia queens here at Gamergate and we've been hosting them in our Tarheel Ants Inception Chambers. These have been very successful with NANCY our Myrmecia fulvipes queen birthing her first nanitic over the weekend. But we needed something that would be quick to clean and give us easy access to feed them.
We came up with the design in the photos below.
It's simply a set of sliding plastic drawers that are from Muji. We've also added in some fake moss mat cuttings to give the queens a more natural area to forage. The queens themselves are obviously just in test tube nests but we're currently investigating the option of using a custom acrylic nest more aesthetically pleasing.
