New ant discovered in Singapore rainforest

Mark Wong, an ecologist and independent researcher in Singapore has discovered a new ant in the rainforest of Singapore.

The ant, described as a raisin and having a distinct fingerprint pattern is called Myrmecina magnificens. The ant measures 4.5mm and is the first ant to be discovered on the Malay Peninsula.
